- The end of Pual’s second missionary journey
- AD 51-52 – Based on Gallio’s proconsulate
- Paul goes first to the synagogue to teach. There he finds Aquila and Priscilla (tent-makers) who were forced to leave Rome by the Emperor Claudius.
- Most of the Jews reject the gospel – except Crispus the Synagogue Leader who believed with his whole household.
- Many believed and were baptized.
- Paul moves his ministry from the synagogue to the house of Titius Justus.
- Silas and Timothy arrive in Corinth with missionary support from Berea.
- Christ promises that Paul will be protected while preaching in Corinth.
- Charges are brought against Paul by the Jews to the proconsul (Gallio).
- Paul doesn’t need to defend himself – Christ kept his promise.
- Gallio denies the case and de facto authorizes Paul to continue preaching.
- Sosthones (the new synagogue leader) is beaten by the (Gentiles?)
- Sosthones later becomes a Christian (1 Corinthians 1).
- Paul preaches and teaches in Corinth for one & 1/2 years.
- Paul decides to leave Greece to visit Jerusalem in time for Passover.
- Paul takes a Nazirite vow in Corinthian suburb, Cenchrea.
- Paul pauses in Ephesus – vows to return if God allows it.
- Paul leaves Aquila and Priscilla with the Ephesians.
- After visiting Jerusalem, Paul begins his third missionary journey.
- Paul returns to Galatia strengthening the disciples.
- Priscilla and Aquila find Apollos in the synagogue teaching about Jesus.
- Apollos does not seem to know about Jesus’ post resurrection teaching.
- They instruct Apollos more completely – the Holy Spirit.
- Apollos is exceptional in teaching Jews about Jesus revealed in the OT.
- Apollos is invited by Corinthians living in Ephesus to go to Corinth.
- Paul returns to Ephesus.
